About the Sustainability Program

The Sustainability Program's goals and objectives are:

  • Guide implementation of the Roadmap goals and opportunities and performance measures
  • Facilitate collaboration among City departments to ensure integration of the Roadmap
  • Facilitate the alignment of City Department policies with the Roadmap
  • Implement structural changes to City’s budget, procurement, CIP and other operational processes through which the City can become more economically, socially and environmentally sustainable
  • Partner with the community to increase awareness about sustainability
  • Implement EMS established measurable objectives and targets
  • Apply for grant funding and awards to sustain environmental programs and promote our program’s successes
  • Prepare an annual report to City Council
  • Emphasize compliance with relevant environmental laws and regulations to reduce our risk through responsible practices and procedures

Mission Statement

To facilitate environmentally sustainable local government policies and practices to ensure that the City operates in a way that is economically, environmentally and socially responsible. The Division works to maximize the benefits of the City’s sustainability initiatives and build a foundation for long-term environmental stewardship by creating meaningful partnerships among employees, residents and community stakeholders.
