Leadership Development Academy

The City of Newport News is committed to the development of leaders. We are pleased to be able to offer to employees who desire leadership development in a meaningful way participation in the Leadership Development Academy (LDA).

Is LDA Right for you?

If you are willing to commit to a personal and professional development program that will challenge you, encourage you and inspire you, then yes LDA is right for you!

What can I expect?

Employees are taken through a 12 month learning journey, exposed to various leadership topics presented by highly qualified practitioners.

How do I apply?

Applications can be accessed on the "Apply Now" page.  Admission into the LDA program is a competitive process with those selected having demonstrated a prior commitment to learning and leadership.

Applications will be accepted for the FY 18 LDA class in June.
For consideration in the FY 18 Academy, employees must submit their online enrollment form no later than close of business on Thursday, July 13, 2017.

*Participants in the LDA II program will be expected to participate in a 6 month practicum project
