Intake

Direct admissions is the process by which adjudicated youth are assigned to a secure facility.

Upon arrival to the facility, the Intake Staff records the youth's arrival, accepts the physical custody of the youth, and the Court Services Unit or Courts provides facility staff with information regarding the youth and their charges.

As part of the intake process, all youth will undergo an initial health screening conducted by trained medical staff. In addition, staff will ask a host of questions including verifying personal contact information.

All youth are allowed to contact their families to inform parents/guardians of their physical location, the facilities telephone procedures, mail and visitation policies, as well as to discuss the initial court date.

While a youth is in Secure Placement, the Probation and Parole Officer, facility staff and the parent(s)/guardian(s) work together in order to ensure positive outcomes for the youth.
