Architectural Review Boards

The City’s architectural review boards maintain the historic and architectural integrity of designated historic areas. Board authority is established in Chapter 45 (Zoning) of the Code of Ordinances. Newport News has two historic districts: Hilton Village and North End/Huntington Heights.

Hilton Village

Meetings

  • 6:30 p.m.
  • The second Wednesday* of each month
  • City Hall, City Council Chambers                                              2400 Washington Avenue

The next meeting of the architectural review board is scheduled to be held on March 8, 2023.

The submission deadline for this meeting is February 10, 2023.

The Architectural Guidelines for the district are currently being updated.  Please contact Carolyn Poissant at 757-926-3833 for the current approved sections affecting fencing and retaining walls, gutters, alternative energy/solar panels, metal buildings and roofing, and sidewalks, ramps, steps and driveways.
